Junior Electrical & Instrumentation Technician-CAN-BC-Vancouver

Overview

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for supporting Engine Testing activities through installing, calibrating and troubleshooting testing equipment, primarily in engine test cells. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Installing, testing and calibrating instrumentation equipment
  • Procuring instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure and temperature sensors, valves etc.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on emissions benches and other test cell equipment
  • Troubleshooting instrumentation, facilities controls, and data acquisition systems
  • Wiring instrumentation, controls & analog data acquisition systems
  • Building wiring harnesses for test rigs and test cells
  • Assembling, wiring, & testing control panel

Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Promote Westport’s H&S following all Environmental, H&S policies and procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities 
  • Report unsafe conditions, behaviors, and all accidents
  • Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative

Position Requirements

  • Recent graduate from Industrial Instrumentation or a Technologist’s Diploma from a recognized Instrumentation/Electrical Technology program
  • Experience with installing & troubleshooting instrumentation
  • Understanding of AC & DC wiring systems
  • Understanding of Electrical drawings and systems
  • Enjoys working in a team environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience with building electrical panels is an asset
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, PLC and Labview programming is an asset
  • Understanding of engine controls and vehicle electronic systems will be an asset

Salary Range

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $60,000 to $65,000. Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
