Senior Technical Engineering Project Manager-CAN-AB-Calgary

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Project Manager Engineer to join our team. As a highly motivated self-starter it will be your responsibility to execute, with our industry partners, the identification and execution of new business development opportunities as well as manage the technical and commercial aspects of customer projects.

Our Ideal candidate will be able to help manage new business opportunities for our Westport Products in a customer-facing role, facilitate strong partnerships between cross-functional teams, develop and track detailed schedules, and actively manage scope within the approved budget for existing Indian-market customers. To succeed, you will bring an engineering background with a demonstrated track record of supporting sales growth, significant knowledge of automotive engine control systems and market awareness in this area. In addition, the right candidate will have strong customer-service and interpersonal skills with a passion for delivering engine technology offerings. 

 Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage technical and commercial aspects of automotive engine technology projects
  • Interface with and support customer engineers and project personnel and liaise with Westport engineers to help manage resources and exceed customer expectations
  • Provide project management, including interface with customers and the development of project scope, schedule, and budgets
  • Collaborate with regional managers, enhance market reconnaissance and prediction of customer requirements and expectations as a feed-forward tool for our product development teams
  • Cultivate relationships with current and prospective customers
  • Be comfortable collaborating with and guiding multiple corporate disciplines when required

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Promote Westport’s H&S culture by leading by example in relation to Environmental, H&S policies and procedures and understand your obligations and responsibilities as it relates to applicable H&S Acts and Regulations
  • Enforce Westport’s H&S policies and procedures, encourage safe work practices, correct unsafe acts or conditions, conduct formal and informal workplace inspections
  • Immediately respond to, investigate and take action from reports of unsafe conditions and/or behaviors

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering
  • 5 years of experience in a directly related senior project management role
  • Demonstrative automotive engine control systems engineering knowledge and expertise, combustion, emissions control, in-vehicle communication, and on-board diagnostic systems
  • 5 years in automotive engine control systems sales, customer support and/or business development, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and successful outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to collaborate well within a team

Salary Range

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary of $135,000,dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
